“Two HC-130Ns and 38 Reserve aircrew members, medics, and aerial porters evacuated survivors and victims from Georgetown, Guyana” (Air Force Medical Service)

Within hours of Congressman Leo J. Ryan’s assassination at the Port Kaituma Airstrip and the mass deaths in Jonestown, the U.S. Air Force was tasked to evacuate the wounded and, of course, the deceased in the carnage of the events in Guyana.

This section compiles documents and records produced by the Air Force throughout their Jonestown operation. Many of the documents in this section were released under Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests made by Fielding M. McGehee and Rebecca Moore, while others were contributed by various Air Force personnel.

The managers of this project possess additional Air Force records that will be added in the months to come, along with comprehensive timelines of events and contextual notes.

Any questions or comments regarding the documents may be sent to militaryresponsetojonestown@gmail.com. Thank you.
